Drake is apparently skipping participation in the 2027 Grammy Awards as well. According to a report from "Billboard", the rapper did not submit any of his three albums "Iceman", "Habibti" and "Maid of Honour" for a possible Grammy nomination.
The three projects are among Drake's first solo releases after his high-profile rap beef with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. All three albums managed to hold strong in the charts over the summer. Especially "Iceman" drew attention.
The album set a new personal record for Drake and stayed at the top of the "Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums" charts longer than his hit album "Take Care", which had spent a total of twelve weeks at number one.
Drake had already hinted on the album itself that he wouldn't submit "Iceman" to the Grammys. On the final song "Make Them Know", the rapper says he won't submit the album for the awards ceremony.
The decision comes at a time when Drake has again been more in the public eye after his dispute with Kendrick Lamar. At the same time, his legal battle with Universal Music Group is still ongoing.
Drake accuses the music company of actively supporting and promoting Kendrick Lamar's diss track "Not Like Us" despite what he sees as defamatory content. A corresponding lawsuit was dismissed last year by a US federal court. Drake's lawyers appealed the decision. The oral hearings are scheduled to begin in December.
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" was among the big winners at the 2025 Grammy Awards and was awarded a total of five Grammys.
