“Your package couldn't be delivered.”
“Your account will be closed today.”
“Your payment was declined, log in immediately.”
Messages like these can really look like they're from a legitimate company. But one of the most common tricks scammers use is to scare you into quickly clicking a link.
First, check the sender address. Even if the company name looks correct, watch for small differences in the email address.
Then don't click the link in the message right away. If there's a warning about your bank, courier, or online store, open the app yourself and check your account.
Be extra cautious with messages that ask for your password, credit card details, or SMS verification code.
Another red flag is extreme urgency: “If you don't take action within 10 minutes, your account will be closed.”
Simple rule: If a message tries to scare you into acting immediately, pause first and check.
