Accessibility Statement

METROPOL FM GmbH is committed to making the RADIO 001 website and mobile app accessible, in line with the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) and the European Accessibility Act on which it is based.

1. Scope of this statement

This statement applies to the website operated by METROPOL FM GmbH and to the RADIO 001 mobile app for iOS and Android, including the live player, the programme and news sections and the member area.

2. Compliance status

The website and the app are partially compliant with the applicable accessibility requirements. Our benchmark is EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA. The content and functions listed under point 4 do not yet fully meet that level; we are working continuously to remove the remaining gaps.

3. Measures already in place

• Semantic HTML with a consistent, logical heading hierarchy
• Full keyboard operation with a visible focus indicator and a predictable focus order
• Alternative text for editorially maintained images
• A dark and a light theme, so contrast can be matched to your own needs
• In the app, the system settings for text size and for reduced motion are respected
• Screen reader labels for controls, icons and status messages
• The live player can be operated with a keyboard and with a screen reader; playback state and the current track are announced
• Content in nine languages, with the page language declared correctly

4. Known limitations

• For user-generated content (comments, voice messages) and for images from external sources we cannot guarantee meaningful alternative text in every case.
• We do not provide subtitles or transcripts for voice messages or for music content.
• In some older archive content the contrast ratios may fall below our target value.
• We have only limited influence on embedded third-party content (for example YouTube videos); its accessibility is the responsibility of the respective provider.

5. How this statement was prepared

This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out by METROPOL FM GmbH. The website and the app were reviewed against EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.1 AA using keyboard operation, screen reader testing and automated checks. No third-party audit has taken place.

7. Enforcement procedure

If you are not satisfied with our reply, or if you receive no adequate answer within a reasonable period, you may apply to the conciliation body under the German Disability Equality Act (Schlichtungsstelle nach dem Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz, BGG). The conciliation procedure is free of charge for you.

Independently of that, you may contact the market surveillance authority responsible for the accessibility of products and services in Germany (Marktüberwachungsstelle der Länder für die Barrierefreiheit von Produkten und Dienstleistungen, MLBF). Both bodies publish their current postal and electronic contact details themselves.
