A$AP Rocky supports musical up-and-comers with a special scholarship. The rapper is funding a complete four-year degree for an incoming student of the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment in Brooklyn.
As "Billboard" reports, the full scholarship is aimed at first-year students who will begin their studies at the Roc Nation School, part of Long Island University, in fall 2027. Applications are open until December 15. The selected person's entire tuition will be covered by A$AP Rocky.
The rapper said it was important to him to give young people the chance to go their own way and realize their ideas. There are many talented young people with big goals and something important to say. With the scholarship he wants to help one of them turn that vision into something real.
About 300 students study at the Roc Nation School in Brooklyn across six bachelor's degree programs. Three of those focus on music and include, among others, Applied Music, Vocal Performance, as well as Music Technology, Entrepreneurship and Production.
Annual tuition in 2024 was around $32,000. However, a large share of students receive financial aid. Other well-known figures such as DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Guru and NBA star LaMelo Ball have already launched scholarships in partnership with the Roc Nation School.
A$AP Rocky is also doing well musically: his long-awaited album "Don't Be Dumb" was released in January and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
