Tupac Shakur Murder Case: 40-Year Prison Sentence After 30 Years

Nearly 30 years after the murder of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, a Las Vegas court has sentenced former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis to 40 years to life in prison.

The 63-year-old Davis was found guilty in August 2026 of orchestrating the 1996 shooting that claimed Tupac Shakur’s life.

The legendary rapper was shot in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, and died six days later at the age of 25.

According to prosecutors, the shooting was an act of revenge following a confrontation between rival gang members at a Las Vegas casino. Davis was accused of organizing the attack and providing the weapon used in the shooting.

A Murder Case That Remained Unsolved for Decades

The investigation remained unresolved for years until Davis publicly discussed his involvement in interviews and a memoir published in 2019.

On October 13, 2026, the court sentenced Davis to 40 years to life in prison. His lawyer has announced plans to appeal the verdict.

Nearly three decades after his death, Tupac Shakur remains one of the most influential artists in hip-hop history, with more than 75 million records sold worldwide.
