Daft Punk Reportedly Rejected GTA 6 Soundtrack Offer Before Justice Took Over

Legendary electronic music duo Daft Punk reportedly turned down an offer to reunite for the Grand Theft Auto 6 soundtrack. According to a new rumor, Rockstar Games was prepared to offer the French duo an almost unlimited budget before turning to Justice.

Rockstar Games allegedly approached Daft Punk with an extraordinary proposal: a potential reunion to create music for one of the most anticipated video games, Grand Theft Auto 6.

According to music news account Has It Leaked, the developers offered the duo an opportunity for a final comeback with what was described as an "essentially unlimited budget." However, Daft Punk reportedly declined the offer, leading Rockstar to collaborate with fellow French electronic music duo Justice instead.

Justice Joins The GTA 6 Soundtrack

Justice has been confirmed as one of the artists contributing original music to GTA 6. The duo also appears on Grand Theft Auto 6 – The Album, which features 34 new tracks from major artists.

Their song "Flower In A Hurricane" was featured in a new launch trailer for the game, alongside contributions from artists including Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Could Daft Punk Ever Reunite?

Daft Punk officially announced their split in 2021 after 28 years together. Since then, fans have continued to hope for a reunion, although Thomas Bangalter has previously suggested that both members have other creative directions they want to explore.

The duo recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of their breakup with a new video for their 2005 track "Human After All."

While the reported GTA 6 offer has sparked interest among fans, neither Rockstar Games nor Daft Punk has officially confirmed the claims.

For now, the possibility of a Daft Punk reunion remains speculation, while Justice takes its place in one of gaming's biggest musical projects.
